My artistic research focuses primarily on the
undefined borders between various disciplines and
materials, in order to further stretch those borders.
I select materials that fit my visual language and
my way of working. I explore the borders of paint by
demonstrating the picturesque qualities of construction
tape. Other construction materials further inspire me
in my exploring the border between low and high
materials, as well as the border between 2d and 3d.
My tape research leads to clear compositions which,
like most of my other work, coincide thematically with
my fascination for parallel universes. I am intrigued
by a phenomenon called anti-room. This is a space
where all borders dissolve. It is not accessible, yet
it evokes contemplation and reflection on one’s own
mortality.
Sometimes a work inspires for words: associations,
comments, or just complimentary. I shape these words
into texts, which then become works of their own and
in return inspire for new work.
